31 July (Sunday), 12nn - 5pm Nicknamed “Red Lantern”, Leyland Fleetline was imported from the UK and began service on 22 March 1978. Its red livery is one of the most iconic among all KMB buses. |
"Hot Dog" |
7 August (Sunday), 12nn - 5pm Model 1429 is one of KMB's final batches of non-air-conditioned buses, nicknamed "Hot Dogs." This batch of 50 buses, which were initially purchased as air-conditioned buses, arrived in Hong Kong in 1994 and were assembled at KMB's Tuen Mun Body Plant. Model 1429 formally retired from KMB in April 2012 after 18 years of service. |

14 August (Sunday), KMB extensively investigated new town routes in the 1980s, collaborating with the Leyland Motors Ltd to produce the 11-meter Olympian double-decker bus for Hong Kong. From 1992 to 2009, it has served Route 60X, 88K, and others. It has been preserved by bus enthusiasts since its retirement. |
“Whiteboard”,the first-generation air-conditioned bus |
21 August (Sunday), 12nn - 5pm Early KMB air-conditioned buses were referred to as "white boards" due to their clean white frames. KMB bought 170 Dennis Dragon 12-meter air-conditioned buses at the time to compensate for the delay in manufacturing of the first-generation low-floor bus (Dennis Trident). Since this bus has more seats, it primarily transports large groups of passengers. Long distance routes such as 269C, 278X, etc. In January 1998, this bus was registered as a brand-new vehicle, and the service was discontinued in January 2016. After then, it was retained by bus enthusiasts. |
